The founding leader of the post-hardcore band A Skylit Drive, Jordan Blake, has died. The band issued a social media statement confirming the news.
Jordan Blake was well-known for being one of the early innovators of the screaming and high-pitched clean vocals that were adopted by the post-hardcore music industry.
Due to health-related issues, Blake departed the band during a tour back in November 2007 since he was unable to continue travelling.
Jonny Craig of Dance Gavin Dance served as the band’s temporary substitute and took part in the recording of a demo of “Knights of the Round.”

The band’s original lineup from 2006 announced their reunion on January 23, 2022, to mark the 15th anniversary of their first EP She Watched the Sky. The reconstituted group secured performances at Swanfest 2022 and So What?! festivals.
The leader of A Skylit Drive, in addition to being known as the band’s primary singer, also donated his vocal abilities to Ann Arbor, Trances, and Watchout! Along with Speak of the Devil, there are also Ghosts. He grew up with a brother and sister after moving to Lodi, California, on June 20, 1986.
What is the cause of Jordan Blake’s death?
Jordan Blake, the original frontman of the post-hardcore band A Skylit Drive, has passed away. The news was confirmed by the band via social media.
The cause of Jordan’s death has not been disclosed. However, the band has shared the following:
“We are overwhelmed with grief to inform you of the loss of Jordan early this morning. Jordan was a trail blazer in the emo/post hardcore music scene with undeniable passion who loved his fans like family. When he had a story to tell, you could read it in his lyrics, hear it in his voice, see it his movements and feel it in your depths. We will forever reflect fondly on the memories and music we shared. We love you Jordan, we’ll see you down the road brother. “Always in our Hearts”.
We want to respect Jordan’s family’s wishes for privacy and space to grieve so we will not be commenting until further notice. Thank you all for reaching out and for your kind words. His legacy will live on through all of you.”
