Congratulations are in order for former first lady Michelle Obama and President Barack Obama. Not only have they managed to stay out of the headlines, they've made it to 31 years of marriage. Today, both Michelle and Barack commemorated the momentous occasion with a pair of matching Instagram tributes — and maybe, just maybe, a set of matching outfits, too.
"Happy anniversary, sweetheart! @MichelleObama, you're brilliant, kind, funny, and beautiful — and I'm lucky to call you mine," Barack captioned his photo, which showed the couple clad in blue. Michelle added a little Bottega Veneta bag to her all-blue outfit and had her hair pulled back with a headband. Barack wore a bright blue jacket and khaki pants as they two posed in front of a grassy field with the blue sky behind them.
In her post, Michelle showed a shot of the duo in neutrals. She wore a zigzag-patterned shimmering knit dress with eye-catching chunky bangles and Barack opted for a rich brown button-up and light-colored pants.
"31 years, and a lifetime to go. I love going through life with you by my side, @BarackObama," she wrote. "Happy anniversary, honey! ❤️"
This year's posts may be super sweet, but it's tough to top last year's throwback photos. For their 30th anniversary, the Obamas shared photos from their wedding day.
Barack's post was an image of him and Michelle smiling and hugging on their wedding day as well as a more recent shot of them at the beach with a message drawn in the sand that read, "Barack + Michelle."
"Miche, after 30 years, I’m not sure why you look exactly the same and I don’t. I do know that I won the lottery that day — that I couldn’t have asked for a better life partner. Happy anniversary, sweetheart!" he wrote, cheekily revealing a nickname for Michelle.
Michelle marked the anniversary with side-by-side photos that included a throwback to their wedding day, as well. "Happy anniversary to the man I love! These last 30 years have been an adventure, and I'm grateful to have you by my side. Here's to a lifetime together. I love you @BarackObama," she wrote to accompany the post.
